In the world of violent, high-speed racing, brothers Rex and Speed Racer become rivals as powerful racer Mondragan manipulates their careers in order to kill them both during the world championships, but the brothers learn its all just an act of vengeance against Pops Racer, who caused the death of Mondragan's father in a race long ago.

The 2 stars are for the SFX, there is nothing I REPEAT NOTHING of worth for an adult watching this movie. Hyperactive kids will enjoy it ... this is a kids movie and nothing more. A cheesy, hyperactive, bright, flashy, seizure enducing, childish SFX filled kiddie flick.
Blew my mind.... a bit cheesey but stays true to the anime roots... turn off the lights turn on the surround sound and blue ray and enjoy
I absolutely adored this! Great visuals, quick, fast paced action. Since it's based on an anime from the 70s, it stays completely true to it. Even the brother and the chimp. I was very surprised they were in it. The Wachiwski's actually brought an anime to life, brilliant!
I was so surprised i enjoyed this so much.Its no masterpiece but its not meant to be. Its an adaptaion of a kids cartoon.The effects are original and at might give you a sense of motion sickness. Its quite a charming film.I dont see the fuss about it. Its very enjoyable.John Goodman is excellent in it. You should check it out.

Rubbish and likely to cause seizures
Bad script, too many birght flashy, puke indulging colours. This movie is a car crash - pun intended!
A good family film with alot of action. You might want to leave smaller children at home though.
The film will appeal to no more than small children. The racing scenes in the movie are all completely CG. This makes for a very boring watch with no atmosphere. Also the cars have no physics to them. My opinion would be to take the kids to see this at the very most!
An assult on the eyes. Much like eating 10 bags of Skittles, the sugar rush is overpowering and jarring. A little more restraint would have made it a better film.
Let down by a weak story, but visually amazing.
This is a sugar coated disaster. The matrix brothers must have had a fluke with their first movie because this and everything that followed it since has been dreadful.
fans of the cartoon will be in heaven as this is so much like it. there is no doubting how amazing the race sequences are and if you like colour...this is for you. it looks brilliant from start to finish and is also funnt for the younger viewers. people who did not like the cartoon, however, RUN AWAY!!! you could end up with a serious headache as the racing zips by at 400km per hour with more colour than a rainbow orgy
