Mediocre story terribly acted
if you can show me someone who says this is a brilliant film then i can show you a liar. there is literally nothing good about this film. for a start why would you cast a man recently seen as a merciless army leader as a love interest, he obviously won't be taken seriously. then you cast a woman who once played a girl pretending to be a boy. so right off the mark it is a stupid couple and you might say that it isn't fair to judge them on previous performances but thats how i feel. Then, as if the oddness of the couple wasn't enough they go and provide the worst Irish accents I've heard since Cameron Diaz in 'Gangs Of New York'. the Americans don't seem to realise that we don't sound like that. Then they get a brilliant writer and let him direct the thing. don't get me wrong, this is a great writer but the other movie's he's scripted were very good mainly because he wasn't allowed to direct. just cause you can write doesn't mean you can direct. so my opinion is basically that the film does not do any justice to a relatively alright and respected novel. nothing good about this, please don't go see.
Ok I dont like love stories but the Irish connection in this made me laugh. It was a good film overall, although I wouldn't think that leaving messages after your dead could be that good to a grieving wife.
Not half as bad as I thought it would be!
i think its a good one for the girls
No, no, no,no, no! I was dragged to see it and immediately regretted not walking out. Awful in every possible way imaginable! Can I give it zero stars?
despite dodgey accents and it being a chick flick it had some funny moments that even the men will enjoy.
as chick flicks go 1 didnt make me want to rip my eyes out. enjoyed it and even watched it a 2nd time on dvd.
I actually liked the movie, I just wish they could have gotten the Irish accents right. Your all right, probably the worst accents in movie history.
Loved this movie, was'nt sure about the accents but it just shows that love can stay alive
Really disappointing, lacking in charm, romance, or humour. (apart from the comical accents)
One of the worst Irish accents ever but who cares! Butler is hot!
read the book though it was brill couldn't wait for the film was not a disappointment...loved it.
Wonderful film. Great acting all around from a super cast. A big must see.
