So, what's it all about?

When small town high-school student Jennifer is possessed by a hungry demon, she transitions from being "high-school evil" -- gorgeous (and doesn't she know it), stuck up and ultra-attitudinal -- to the real deal: evil/evil. The glittering beauty becomes a pale and sickly creature jonesing for a meaty snack, and guys who never stood a chance with the heartless babe, take on new luster in the light of Jennifer's insatiable appetite. Meanwhile, Jennifer's lifelong best friend Needy, long relegated to living in Jennifer's shadow, must step-up to protect the town's young men, including her nerdy boyfriend.

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

Jennifer Check and Anita ''Needy'' Lesnicky are lifelong best friends and high school students in tiny Devil's Kettle, Minnesota. Needy is the practical, bookish counterpart to small-town sexpot cheerleader Jennifer, who controls most everyone around her Needy included with knowing relish using her hypnotic good looks. After Jennifer and Needy escape a grisly fire at the local dive bar, Jennifer is whisked away in a creeper van by the band that was playing there, despite Needy's pleas not to. In a ''sell your soul for rock and roll''-style move, the fame-hungry indie rockers, Low Shoulder, kill Jennifer in an occult, virgin sacrifice ceremony, which goes awry because Jennifer isn't one. After being left for dead, Jennifer shows up at Needy's house covered in blood, spewing black bile and grinning wickedly.

The next day, amidst the fire tragedy aftermath, Devil's Kettle's star football player is found disemboweled and half-eaten in the woods adjacent to the school. Jennifer, of course, did it, and after the vixen kills a sweet emo boy, she confesses to Needy (after a too-brief girl-on-girl makeout session complete with heavy tongue close-ups), that the botched sacrifice turned her into a demon, and that she becomes happier and more beautiful and thus deadlier after she feasts on the blood of horny high school boys. Needy does some research in the occult section of the high school library and discovers her best friend is indeed a pawn of the devil. Needy warns her boyfriend Chip to watch out for Jennifer, and consequently finds herself covered in bile with Chip dead in her arms at the prom because he doesn't. Then she seeks revenge.

WHO'S IN IT?

The ever enjoyable Amanda Seyfried takes the lead as plain jane Needy, and Johnny Simmons is her sweet, doting boyfriend Chip. Adam Brody, doing a spot-on Brandon Flowers impression, is the killer front man of Low Shoulder. Amy Sedaris makes a too-brief cameo as Needy's mom and Juno's dad J.K. Simmons is a high school teacher with an unexplained hook for a hand. Megan Fox is in it too.

WHAT'S GOOD?

Diablo Cody's script is smart, funny and infinitely more interesting than the typical teen slasher swill. The movie revels in its gory moments without being gratuitous and employs a healthy amount of sex without coming off like it's pandering to horny teens. Rather, Jennifer's Body is the perfect template for the incomparably hot Megan Fox to use her looks as a plot-forwarding mechanism. This is a professionally signficant departure from her eye candy turns in the Transformers movies and lets Fox prove that she can actually act. There's no one else in Hollywood right now better suited to this role. Fox's performance is unhinged and charming, and she makes good use of all the Diablo Cody-isms (''You need a mani bad. You should find a Chinese chick to buff your situation.''), that devil-may-care Jennifer gets to utter. The love/hate best friend relationship is interesting, and there's a load of good-girl-gone-wrong catharsis in Seyfried's revenge-fueled rampage. Cody and director Karyn Kusama are adept in skillfully, if a bit condescendingly, creating a convincing depiction of a small Midwestern town, which serves as the perfect ultra-real backdrop for the story.

WHAT'S BAD?

Cody's unique style adds the perfect quirk factor to what could otherwise be run-of-the-mill cinematic garbage. The Cody-isms, however, sometimes come off as cloying when they aren't being uttered by Fox. Also, hopeful Fox worshippers might be disappointed that the sexually radiant actress, despite her character's penchant for using sex to lure her victims, doesn't actually bare anything that necessitates the film's R-rating.

PARTING SHOT

With its surprising plot twists, a snarky bff vs. bff subplot and Cody's flair for linguistics, Jennifer's Body is a smart horror flick for anyone who enjoys jolly gore or Megan Fox in a mini-skirt.

Not as bad as most reviews say it is. Soundtrack is excellent. Meg Fox is a woeful actress though , Amanda Seyfried is the star of the movie though , hopefully she will get stronger roles in the future because she definitley has talent! Still worth seeing though =)

Really enjoyed this, but not for everyone. Megan is hot as usual, but totally freaky at same time. One for gore fans.

Overall a pretty crap film. There is some quite good dialogue throughout but the story is awful. The frights aren't frightening and the effects are pretty lousy in parts. Megan Fox is fairly hot though.

To be fair it's the script that let's this film down as it doesn't know what it wants to be, a comedy horror or straight-up horror. I was pleasantly surprised that Megan Fox wasn't awful in this, especially against the far better Seyfried. Worth a rent.

Ummm...it ok. I thought it was going to be shite, it wasnt but it wasnt great either. I would say guys will watch this regardless of the plot cause Megan Fox is in it. Yep she looks hot but she cant act for peanuts so if good acting from the lead actor matters to you then dont watch it. I thought it was a bit of fun but not much more than that.

Not as bad as I heard. Is actually a good laugh, with some good lines. Just don't expect anything on the levels of Juno. Plus Megan Fox is in it. Always a good thing.

most people will only watch this for one reason(we all know what that is). although the film outlined itself well and had decent moments i lacked a sense of direction and at the end felt like it was missing that screaming horror that even bad horror films dont leave out. i give this a 3 out of 5. its worth seeing but only if you dont intend to be scared or anything like that.

Girlie Horror would be the best wasy to describe this. Yes, look at Megan Fox's body, but the dialouge in this is so terribly awful that it's brilliant, in fact it's salty. Some lesbian action, a terribly pretty goth boy along with plenty of gore. Not bad visuals.

This movie does not know whether it wants to be a teen slasher movie or a high school comedy, it’s actually hard to believe that Diablo Cody wrote this when Juno was so enjoyable and well this isn’t , the so called horror comic moments aren’t funny at all and all,no one was laughing in the screening I was at and I think everyone walked away wondering what was that?, The movie will probably only appeal to 16 year old boys who fancy Megan Fox and girls who are her fans, which they both will probably flock to, There is nothing to any of the characters and who end up not really caring what happens to anyone. If you want to see this I would wait for the DVD or until it’s on t.v.

Jennifer's Body is Oscar winning screenwriter Diablo Cody's mildly anticipated follow up to the hugely popular Juno. In this film she incorporates her own kind of humour with a dark and gritty story which includes devil worship, cannibalism, emo's and a lot of dead young men. Unfortunately from the start the whole affair seems a bit off. Firstly there are a lot of problems which arise due to the attempts at comic relief. For a start Cody succeeded in making the humour as original as it was in Juno but nowhere near as funny. I mean Juno was hilarious but every joke in this film fails to provide a laugh because even if they were funny, which they weren't, they just didn't compliment the general tone of the film. Also the actual story is quite poor, for those who don't know a devil worshiping indie band sacrifice Jennifer thinking she's a virgin so that they can become famous. The thing is because she wasn't a virgin a demon stays in her and she must eat people to stay alive. Absolutely ridiculous story and there are other smaller things and useless scenes which make it even more ridiculous and slow down the dramatic momentum. Firstly there is a character in it, Mr. Wroblewski the teacher who has a hook for a hand. Now this is a fact that I figured would somehow come back into the story but it is never even acknowledged by anyone. Secondly we find out in the last ten minutes or so that Jennifer can levitate. This is used twice in the film, with about 2 minutes in between them and the second time it is used to show the end of Jennifer and Needy's friendship but it was as if this idea came about while shooting the final scenes and it was very badly done. Also I think the characters should've been written differently. For example Megan Fox/Jennifer transforms from a stuck up bitch to a stuck up bitch who eats people. The only thing that really changed was her diet and I couldn't help but think if Amanda Seyfried's character had the exact same change it would've been a lot more interesting. Perhaps the most annoying thing in the film was the fact that the devil worshiping band throughout the film become slowly but surely glorified and made out to be almost god-like. One of the biggest disappointments of the film was the cast performances. Megan Fox has finally proven that behind the stunning good looks there isn't a talented actress. She almost fooled everyone by losing her clothes a couple of times but it's inevitable that you will discover just how bad she is by the end of the film. Amanda Seyfried also failed to impress. I didn't like her after seeing Mamma Mia and this has only reinforced my opinions of her. Adam Brody was brilliant as one of the band members but was horribly underused. So all in all this is quite a poor film. The intense scenes were continuously let down by failed attempts at humour. It tried to be original but did so nowhere near as successfully as Juno. This film would be perfect for the post-Twilight 12 year olds but sadly for the people who invested in this film they are kept out by the 16 cert in Ireland and so it won't become as much of a phenomenon. I did quite like the direction of the film although it was very difficult to appreciate due to unbearably terrible story and cast displays. "Hell is a teenage girl" says Needy in the opening line of the film but in my opinion hell is watching this film for 102 minutes constantly hoping it will improve only for it to go the opposite way. I know it is a bit unfair to expect a lot from Diablo Cody but I just think that this shows that perhaps she is not as good a sriptwriter as her previous work would suggest.
