Movies.ie Critic Review

His father wants him to take over the family business, but the Easter Bunny (voiced by Brand) just isn’t all that interested in making lots and lots of treats for the big annual treasure hunt. Nope, instead of Willy Wonka, E.B. wants to be Keith Moon. And so he’s soon on his way to Hollywood…

THE VERDICT: From the makers of Despicable Me, tellingly enough, this mix of live action and animation certainly looks the part – shiny, happy, and new. The rest of the package leaves something to be desired though, Brand’s would-be rock star credentials and his considerable comedic chops failing to lift this one above the 8-year old market. You might want to skip Hop and jump to next week, and the much more entertaining Rio.

As cute and cuddly as a plush, floppy-eared rabbit despite a character some may find offensive: a Spanish-accented chick named Carlos...plotting to dethrone the Easter Bunny

The flick steals the 'saving Christmas' theme and just dresses it up as an Easter Bunny. Similarities are just too bland and obvious. There's nothing special about this one but it's not a bore, and there are plenty of laughs along the way, and kids should love the 'Easter Bunny and the Chocolate Factory' scenes.

From the first scene, the SQUEE ness for this film is set VERY high! Adorable bunnies drumming. It's so squishy, huggable cutesy wutesy! Though terrible cast with Russel Brand, not suiting the adorable bunny at all. Nice little story about how parents can't see that their children are teir own people and need to take their own path in life, including both the rabbit and the human in this colourful, bright and cheerful Santa rip off (there's a strange sleigh thing that makes one wonder WTF?) Very adorable characters, sweet animation and not in 3D. Not a bad film, bring the lady friend and see how many "Aww look at his nose and tail" you can get from her"

Hop is a bit of a laugh while also being ridiculous. If the writers were trying to illustrate how terrible some holiday movies can be they hit the nail on the head. But in saying that I did laugh at some parts and Hop is incredibly cute. James Marsden may want to reconsider his career though.

Reasonably ok movie, if you are 6 and have no major use for brain function... There are a lot of things that could have made this movie so much better, visually it looks very good, but script and acting are below par. My biggest gripe on this is what the hell is Hugh Heffner doing in a kids movie!

I thoroughly enjoyed Hop. There's one or 2 scenes that are just for kids, but on the most part it just as enjoyable for adults and Russell Brand is a fantastic voice actor. He should stick to it, and do less sh*te like Arthur.
