Walt Kowalski, an iron-willed veteran living in a changing world, who is forced by his immigrant neighbors to confront his own long-held prejudices. The people he once called his neighbors have all moved or passed away, replaced by Hmong immigrants, from Southeast Asia, he despises. Resentful of virtually everything and everyone he sees, Walt is just waiting out the rest of his life, until the night his teenage neighbor Thao tries to steal his prized '72 Gran Torino, under pressure from Hmong gang-bangers. But Walt stands in the way of both the heist and the gang, making him the reluctant hero of the neighborhood-especially to Thao's mother and older sister, Sue, who insist that Thao work for Walt as a way to make amends. Though he initially wants nothing to do with these people, Walt eventually gives in and puts the boy to work, setting into motion an unlikely friendship that will change both their lives.

Clint Eastwood at his best, both acting and directinf. A must see film of 2009. A modern Dirty Harry type character. It's remarkable the Talent of Eastwood at his age.

Saw this last night and to be honest, I starting to annoy myself that I as a rule seem to avoid Clint Eastwood films. I dont know what it is but I always put off watching them. And once again, I felt stupid for doing it after watching this. Absolute class

An angry retired veteran protects the Hmong immigrants who have moved in next door to him, and teach their son about being the man of the house. Fantastic film, and a fitting send off for one of film's true greats

It’s a really great movie. Eastwood acting can be compared to his role in good old Dirty Harry movies – he doesn’t speak but just spits every word and just looks all the time to kick some butts. Although the rest of actors are rather stiff and amateur it doesn’t really matter because “Gran Torino” just rocks!

Outstanding effort. In what oculd be Clints final film as an actor, I couldnt imagine anyone who could have played this role better. Eastwoods fingerprints dominate every single frame of this movie, his influence dominates it. A man who can express more with a single look and a growl, this is Eastwood at his absolute best. Do no miss this film.
