"Good Hair" is an insightful and entertaining, yet remarkably serious, documentary about African-American hair culture. An exposé of comic proportions that only Chris Rock could pull off, "Good Hair" visits hair salons and styling battles, scientific laboratories, and Indian temples to explore the way black hairstyles impact the activities, pocketbooks, sexual relationships and self-esteem of black people. What Rock discovers is that black hair is a big business that doesn't always benefit the black community.

Good Hair is certainly no arid anthropological study. Rock's queries are loose and quippy, but his instincts are as sharp as an investigative journalist's.

Quite enjoyed this, was a bit worried during the first 10-15 minutes when they were just going on about the beauty element but then when they delved into the industry and went beyond it was really interesting. Some very funny moments also, not all provided by Chris Rock. Well worth a look.

It was interesting. I'd heard that hair was a huge deal in African American culture so I didn't think it was the exposé that Chris Rock wanted it to be. So it didn't really merit the hyperbolic language that Oprah lauded on it. Mainly just a funny movie, and very forgettable.

a strange documentary and very informative towards how black women in America are targetted for hair hair products. I'm glad I'm not a woman as some of these people are left scarred, destetude and inconsolible about their hair. I was very surprised how common false hair is in the US amongst black women. The tournament was funny though

Enjoyable doc, which while short on laughs (given the presence of Chris Rock), is intersting enough to entertain.

An interesting look at the black hair business in America and the money that people spend each year. This movie is both funny and informitive.
