A very disappointing and anti-climatic film. The twist at the end is predictable and the stories set in London are just uninteresting. Meanwhile City looks very impressive & that storyline is interesting but it is completely let down by the ending.

OK so this movie is two things 1) not for everyone 2) not what your expecting. I watched this movie expecting some version of dark city or as bad as possible LOEG. But even after enduring the opening 20 minutes which laboured through whilst seeming to make no connection to the plot... BOOM! this film then hit home and found its footing relating back to those opening 20 minutes perfectly lining this film up for a very neat conclusion. this movie has Imagination and wonder. Wonderful lighting / fantastic directing / great acting / and most of all a well written original script. I loved this film and cant stress enough that its one to watch twice if not three times in one month just to soak it all in. as mentioned before its not for everyone so unless you like your twists & turns / dialogue / and gritty story line this films not for you. don't go expecting an action movie. watch this movie expecting a looking into mans spiral into madness... expect art. because that is what you will get with this movie. I don't rate movies lightly so (as some of you may well know) but i rate this film highly after all the crap and remakes in the cinema at the moment. its nice to see something fresh and imaginative coming from the screen

Firstly, whoa, this movie was a million miles away from what I expected, it started out really slowly and more than a little confusing but in the overall scheme of the movie it had to for it all to make sense. A totally original idea and a movie that actually makes you think, two things that are too often lacking in modern cinema. Beautifully shot and great performances from a really strong cast. This is the kind of thing that the movie industry should be encouraging rather than the endless remakes and terrible movies they seem so keen to produce. Give that money to someone who can do something intelligent and artistic with it. If you are a genuine movie lover I cannot recommend this movie enough, if all you want is mind candy then you should avoid.

The idea for the film is really good... BUt it could have been realised better. Worth a look anyway.

Refreshingly, the high concept 'Franklyn' is not an easy film to categorise but can be described, and has been by the director, as Retro Noir. An urban fairytale set in two worlds,

A standard ensemble drama which makes the most of a parallel story line set in a dystopic alternate reality. Good performances and great production design are marred by some narrative mis-steps in the final act but the trips to Meanwhile city are worth the effort.

Quiet confusing at the beginning. But the movie is worth staying focused.

Great to see a film as original as this. Very interesting concepts very well put together. Eva Green and Bernard Hill are great.

The movie starts off as one thing and ends as another, for me the vein of religious mockery was one of the best things about the film. SFX are great, Meanwhile City is well realised and there are characters in both worlds that draw the audience in and make them want to see what happens to them. Strange to see Ryan Phillipe play a vigilante, masked hero, but he does it with flair. A very interesting film that will draw you back to it more than once.
