Ren MacCormack is transplanted from Boston to the small southern town of Bomont where he experiences a heavy dose of culture shock. A few years prior, the community was rocked by a tragic accident that killed five teenagers after a night out and Bomont's local councilmen and the beloved Reverend Shaw Moore responded by implementing ordinances that prohibit loud music and dancing. Not one to bow to the status quo, Ren challenges the ban, revitalizing the town and falling in love with the minister's troubled daughter Ariel in the process.

Movies.ie Critic Review

Hey, it’s a small town in America’s deep south, so, dancing is against the law. But, double hey, this is our time. To live. So, you know, we’re going to dance. No matter what our single parents say!

THE VERDICT: There are a few things you need to know about this remake of the 1984, Kevin Bacon-led teen classic. Such as, Kevin Bacon declined doing a cameo. Originally, Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, This Is It) was going to direct, and his buddy, Zac Effron, was going to be the lead. The lead here, Kenny Wormald, previously appeared in Jennifer Lopez’s MTV series, Dancelife. Oh, and most importantly, Dennis Quaid and Andie MacDowell are the biggest stars here. Actually, the only thing you need to know is that last fact. RATING: 2/5

Does the world really need a remake of Footloose? I would answer no, but I must also admit that the new movie is innocuous and pleasant-enough to watch

Footloose is completely harmless, and quite enjoyable at times. Like any good pop song, it's got a beat, and you can dance to it.

If you haven't seen the original and are happy to ignore some of the more mad script decisions, you might get a kick out of it, but otherwise, youre better off re-watching the movie that started it all.

This is a real girly movie, I think, so alright for something to watch of an evening, however, the original was better...as is usually the case.

If you liked the original, you'll enjoy this. Same story with a modern twist - some laughs, goofy momens but overall feelgood
