Movies.ie Critic Review

The old gang meets up in Rio for the mother of all heists, former cop Brian (Walker) and his missus (Brewster) having rescued Dominic (Diesel) from a prison van with, eh, a matching pair of hot rods. In Rio, they soon have hard-headed fed Hobbs (Johnson) on their tail, and local drug lord Ryes (Joaquim de Almeida) after their heads. The gang is hoping to relieve the latter of $100m…

THE VERDICT:
With the surprise $71m+ US opening of the last Fast & Furious outing, it would seem as though this B-movie franchise – basically Ocean’s Eleven on alloyed wheels - might just be armour-plated. And it has $1billion in the bank to prove it. That might be why director Justin Lin – returning for his third outing – is letting it all go to his head, cutting back on the car chases despite pushing the time to two hours and ten minutes. Roger Corman would not approve. Galway’s adopted son wouldn’t be too impressed by the script either. He might just get a kick out of the damn fine - but scarce - set-pieces though.

Street racing is dialed down in favour of Ocean's Eleven-style heist plotting and favela gunplay straight out of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare

Sorry for the delay in the review guys, exam season. So this is the fifth film. But only the third to feature both Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, Its also the third film in the franchise to be directed by Justin Linn. And they have found there grove. This film has more in comman with Oceans 11 then Bullet. Gone are the extended car chases and in are the obligatory empty warehouse where ALL heists must planned. The Rock has seemlesly added in to the mix, to give us easily the most enjoyable film in the franchise. Its a awful lot of fun.

It was exactly what you would have expected from a movie that really should have stopped after the second line. The story line was a joke with some of the worse lines I have ever heard. But it did what all of these movies have done is that they had some nice cars and they blew shit up. Job done. Please don't do another.

Exactly what you expect great stunts and action scenes! The dialogue is pretty crap but i didn't expect it to be brilliant. People need to stay till the end of the credits for the last very important scene!!

Five movies in and I'm still not tired of it. Don't expect any deep thinking to come from watching it but prepare to be actioned and amused out of your seat.

Even with the over-the-top acting of Dwayne Johnson and mind-numbing action sequences the film is actually watchable.

Your not gonna see a more exciting 2hours all summer it's just wall to wall of insane action and watching the rock and vin diesel locking horns is worth the money alone !!!!

I enjoyed this flick you know going into this what to expect from a F&F movie by this stage. Testosterone by the bucket? Check! Lots of flash cars racing? Check! Lovely looking lady close ups? Check! Complete disregard for the laws of physics? Check! Excuse for "one last job"? Check! One of the better F&F sequels and could be a nice conclusion to the series ... butttttt , stay after the credits roll for a tease for *gasp* another possible sequel!

Fast slick cars and muscle men who can't act. What more could one want?? Things go Wham, Bam and BOOM!! Awesome visually, woeful story and terrible acting, trying to worm a romantic speel into it... Not happening. Go see it for the lulz.

Make no mistake, this is no masterpiece of the dramatic arts but it is probably the best since the original: lean, spectacular, funny and slightly less risible than its predecessors.

This is exactly what you'd expect and if you keep that in mind you'll enjoy this. There are some very cheesy moments between Vin Diesel and the Rock and plenty of laughs. Entertaining!
