Our critics review will be added soon.
Farewell is an enjoyable political drama, managing to create an authentic atmosphere of Soviet Russia, despite the production being banned from filming there because of its content. It's loosely based on true events - a French-sympathizer KGB agent selling information to the French Intelligence during the Cold War. A Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica plays him since Russian actors were again discouraged from taking up the role. The flick focuses on the human drama - the reasons and implications for someone leading a double, in this case, a triple life. It is definitely of interest to history buffs and those interested in political espionage.
Although very slow paced at times, this builds up nicely into a very well acted and interesting cold war drama. Some nice cameoes as well, with Fred Ward doing a very good Ronald Reagan.
