DIVERGENT Adaptation Adds Jai Courtney, Maggie Q, Zoe Kravitz and Ansel Elgort

The three sign up for the young adult adaptation.

It has been announced that Jai Courtney (‘A Good Day To Die Hard,’ ‘Jack Reacher’), Maggie Q (‘Nikita,’ ‘Live Free or Die Hard’), Zoe Kravitz (‘After Earth,’ ‘X-Men: First Class’) and Ansel Elgort (‘Carrie’) have all closed deals to join Shailene Woodley (‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ ‘The Descendants’) on the cast of the upcoming young adult adaptation ‘Divergent.’

Based on the first book in author Veronica Roth’s planned trilogy, the story follows 16-year-old Beatrice “Tris” Prior (Woodley), who must choose among the predetermined factions to define her identity for the rest of her life, a decision made more difficult when she discovers that she is an anomaly who does not fit into any one group, and that the society she lives in is not perfect after all.

Variety has Courtney set for the role of Eric, the leader of the Dauntless faction which represents courage, bravery, and fearlessness. Heat Vision has details on the other three. Q will take the role of Tori, the owner of a tattoo parlour who is part of the choosing ceremony that divides people into the factions, while Kravitz will be playing Christina, a member of Dauntless. Elgort has landed the role of Caleb, Woodley’s twin brother who turns his back on his family.

Neil Burger (‘Limitless’) is attached to direct with the aim of having the adaptation in production in the spring in Chicago.
