Los Angeles, 1928: On a Saturday morning in a working-class suburb, Christine said goodbye to her son, Walter, and left for work. When she came home, she discovered he had vanished. A fruitless search ensues, and months later, a boy claiming to be the nine-year-old is returned. Dazed by the swirl of cops, reporters and her conflicted emotions, Christine allows him to stay overnight. But, in her heart, she knows he is not Walter. As she pushes authorities to keep looking, she learns that in Prohibition-era L.A., women don't challenge the system and live to tell their story. Slandered as delusional and unfit, Christine finds an ally in activist Reverend Briegleb, who helps her fight the city to look for her missing boy.

Thought this was going to be more of a chick flick but its one for everyone. Gripping story that hols your attention till the end. Jolie shows she can get by with more than her looks with a good performance

Really enjoyed this and fantastic performances from most of the cast, especially Jason Butler Harner. Deserves Best Picture or Best Director Oscar.

Very interesting look at the LAPD of the twenties, a moving and sad story of this missing boy and his mother's fight to get him back only to get back a different boy. Ludicrous the way the police treated her trying to convince her this boy was her son. Angelina was brilliant in this, beautiful as usual but someone please give her a ham sandwich! Excellent movie.

A mess of a film really, the only thing that kept the interest (because man it's long) is the complete madness of the story.

I wanted to love this film. I wanted to give it a full five rating but just couldn't. It just falls short. Jolie is superb and it is shot brilliantly. You really feel like you've stepped back into the 1920s and 30s. However its a little all over the place in parts, John Malkovich isn't in it enough and some characters don't develop enough. Maybe I'm being harsh because like it says at the beginning "A True Story" so Eastwood could only work with what had happened but I would be lying to myself if I gave it 5 stars. Very good movie, definitely worth going to see but just short of greatness
