It was good enough to keep me watching. I saw the trailer for the Hurt Locker before it, that looks great!

Can't make my mind up on this one, Tobey Maguire showed some serious acting chops but it was a little overdone at times, in my opinion.

Gritty and silly. An epic fail for pandering to awards season.

Oh this film was BRILLIANT ...I cried from start to finish ..I really wouldnt be a fan of Toby, most of the time I find him annoying and he cant grow real facial hair ..but in this he was actually like pretty great! Jake was amazing as he always is and Portman was ok ..well if your into that obviously beautiful and talanted kinda thing..

I wanted to like this movie: the story is interesting, the cast is impeccable (especially the actresses playing the 2 young daughters)but in my opinion the film is missing focus. It is too lenghtly sometimes and I feel I saw the entire movie in the trailer so Watch the trailer and you'll spare the cost of a movie ticket...

Cheap melodrama that resembles an RTÉ drama. I really disliked it because of two things: the acting is dire and the story is unfocused. There was not a single scene of good acting in it. Tobey Maguire is such a mediocre actor -Spiderman included- and Jim Sheridan's direction doesn't help. He relies too much on scenes where the children have lines as if he was looking for sympathy from the audience. If you have seen the trailer, watch it again and you would have seen the whole film. Pity.

Woeful trailer left me feeling like I'd just watched a summary of the whole film in three minutes. Not going anywhere near this.

Outstanding drama from Jim Sheridan with fantastic performances from all 3 leads, in particular Tobey maguire. Some really tense scences add to the film as well.
