Genre:

In the not-too-distant future, some 30 years after the final war, a solitary man walks across the wasteland that was once America. There is no civilization here, no law. The roads belong to gangs that would murder a man for his shoes, an ounce of water -- or for nothing at all. A warrior not by choice but necessity, Eli seeks only peace but, if challenged, will cut his attackers down before they realize their fatal mistake. It's not his life he guards so fiercely but his hope for the future; a hope he has carried and protected for 30 years and is determined to realize. Driven by this commitment and guided by his belief in something greater than himself, Eli does what he must to survive--and continue.

Above standard sci drama about an apocalyptic new America where one man holds what could possibly be the most important book / weapon of all time. Very silly in places and very obvious in others. the twist in the end was obvious from about 40 minutes in but what completely ruined it was the last two scenes which were absolute hogwash that made me wonder who had spliced in scenes from resident evil (- zombies) and blade trinity (- vampires) Watchable and enjoyable to a certain extent but certainly nothing to write home about and one that you wont be recommending to your friends 3*'s is generous but any less would be an insult to a more or less enjoyable if cliched movie

I wasn't expecting much as I had heard nothing but bad reviews and have to admit was considering turning it off after a few minutes as it started very slowly but from the time of the first fight scene it really picked up. Beautifully shot, to reflect the barreness of the post apocalyptic wasteland. Great performences from the entire cast, brilliantly choreagraphed fight scenes and a good premise for the story. Even has a nice little plot twist. Not a movie you have to think too hard about but if you like sci fi I do think it is worth a look.

Starts slow but picks up speed like a freight train. Amazing portrait of polarity between those who surrender to the ideology of bible and those who want the bible to surrender to their own ideology.
