Bowers's play-it-straight attitude towards the material combined with the crisp, if unspectacular, animation doesn't allow 'Astro Boy' a moment to bob its head above the ever-swelling digimation pack

Really enjoyable film that's let down from greatness by a simplistic story. Stunning animation that makes the passing of the studio Imagi all the more heartbreaking. Younger kids will adore the main character and adults will admire the visuals but will be mildly entertained.

In what could have been the greatest and most intelligent childrens movie of all time, Astro's americanisation ultimately proves to be his folly as he loses as sense of morality that the popular anime brought in, in favour of becoming a cliche.

Going to give it 2 stars for the attempt. Unfortunately I found the story to be less than appealing, didn't really connect or enjoy the characters as much as I would have hoped. All in all its not terrible, watchable as a family flick maybe
