About the Canadian metal band Anvil. At 14, Toronto school friends Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner made a pact to rock together forever. Their band, Anvil, went on to become the "demigods of Canadian metal," releasing one of the heaviest albums in metal history, 1982's "Metal on Metal." It went on to sell millions of records, but Anvil's career didn't flourish afterwards. Instead, they went straight to obscurity.

Wheter yoy're a metal fan or not this movie will touch you, telling a great story of Anvil will power to keep going even through all the rejection and hardship. It really is like a true life spinal tap at times, but in the end you really want them to succeed.

heart breaking and uplifting story of a real spinal tap (the apm goes to eleven in one scene!) Not a fan of the bands songs (metal on metal etc) but I'd say Im a fan of Anvil and their willpower to go on. If you have a chance watch this movie

Anvil have been trying to make it for 35 years, and to their credit, they have never given up when things got tough. The film is a real life Spinal Tap. The similarities are sometimes uncanny from a visit to Stongehenge, an ill fated tour and amps that go up to 11. The film is a testimony to the strength of the human spirit. It is impossible not to identify and sympathise with Lips and Robb, who never let go of their dream, even when all seemed lost and in the face of massive adversity. Maybe this movie will help them to get the recognition they deserve. Awesome metal tunes too...

There's something melancholy about a band who've spent thrirty years trying to get that "big break", but ultimately "Anvil" is about doing what you love for no other reason than love itself. Very enjoyable.

A perfect documentary journey of pitfall and minor sucesses which is elegantly made and, above all, respectful to the subject. Anvil is poignant, hysterically funny, inspiring and endlessly entertaining. Certainly the best documentary in recent memory and one of the best films this year.

Great fun...and quite moving in a strange way...it was showing as part of the film festival and the band played after...very surreal (think real life spinal tap)
