Movies.ie Critic Review

Joining Dave (Lee) on a luxury cruise liner, Alvin (voiced by Long), Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Theodore (McCartney), plus their three equally sassy female Chipette counterparts (voiced by the sassy Poehler, Faris and Applegate) find themselves on the wrong end of a kite – which is how our millilitre-sized heroes end up on a desert island. There, they’re eaten by Tom Hanks. One by one.

THE VERDICT: Pretty close to Couple Retreats for kids, as the six all-singing, all-pratfalling chipmunks find themselves on a tropical island, with only their wits, and their collection of much-loved r’n’b pop hits, to keep their spirits up. As much Jersey Shore as Walt Disney (Eleanor’s skirt is way, way too short), it’s taken just about everyone by surprise that this novelty 1950s cartoon creation should find an audience in the 21st century. But find an audience they have, some riding the kitsch value, others genuinely moved by the rockin’ rodents. You’ll know full well before sitting down whether you’re going to like this or not.

Alvins And The Chipmunks:Chipwrecked is a terrible movie, the three Alvin And The Chipmunks movies aren't well received but to be honest I enjoyed the first two,but this one is absolutely awful,in the first two they sing a lot but at the right time,in this they just sing whenever they feel like it,but the thing I hate most about this movie is the god awful Zoe,played by Jenny Slatewho is just a stupid character, although I do like The Chipmunks themselves, not so much for the Chipettes. The Chipmunks,The Chippettes and Dave go on a cruise on there way to the international movie awards, but The Chipmunks and The Chippetes get stuck on an island (long story) and Dave separately gets stuck with Ian Hawke in a pellican suit.

Good news: The shrill CG rodents, who last infested theaters in 2009's Squeakquel, are stranded on a jungle island with little hope of survival. Bad news: They've brought us along.

    BIGBADBRIAN

Brought my 3 year old girls and my niece to this and they loved it. I didn't mind the last 2, but this takes the story away from the music business and on to a desserted island. Kids will love it but its pretty dumb and boring for adults.

Good one for the younger kids,if you can stand the high pitched voices. Moves along quickly with a mix of humour and song. Worth taking the little ones to.
