The imposition of a fairytale quest structure turns the surrealist wanderings (and wonderings) of a free-associating dreamer into a brusque crash-zoom, as Alice hurtles towards her appointment on the good-versus-evil battlefield.

I seen some bad reviews for this so I went thinking that I was probably going to be disappointed but I really enjoyed it. The concept of Alice returning many years later to wonderland reminded me a lot of Hook. I liked that they decided to do this as it gives us a new story rather than rehashing the old one again which most people already know. The 3D is not the best I've seen (flickering images, slight ghosting) but there are a few scenes (mainly involving the cheisire cat) which really pop. The performances are all good especially Depp's as the mad hatter. I like to escape from reality when I visit the cinema and this film certainly achieved this for me.

I loved this movie! After the movie, my husband turned to me and asked how I liked the film...the seven year old girl in front of me took the words right out of my mouth..."that was awesome!" I think it's a mistake to compare to the original story. It is a very strong story on its own. The characters were magnificent; as were the visuals and I also felt Depp was a superb Mad Hatter. I think when one watches this story though imaginitive eyes it speaks to everyone’s inner child... Not for the old of heart:)

Burtons Wonderland has so much promise but falls on bad visuals. Its the usual Alice story with a twist(this is like a sequel)but i found myself lost and not knowing where to look. The 3D is the most dreadful i have seen and Matt Lucas character looks like he belongs to a movie made in the late 90's. Awful effects. The only plus side is its quite funny at times and the creatures look real enough and have charm. Depp is good as Hatter but i got the feeling anybody could have played it. It was like they didnt want to overshadow the film with an over wacky performance. Hathaway and Carter were pretty decent too. I like Burtons films(except for Wonka) but i think this was a big miss, mostly because of bad 3D. I found this film a little too long and slightly boring.
