Aidan Gillen Joins Guy Ritchies KING ARTHUR As Production Gets Underway

First set photo and official synopsis released…

Filming is officially underway on director Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur epic, working title ‘Knights of the Round Table,’ with Charlie Hunnam (‘Pacific Rim,’ ‘Sons of Anarchy’), Jude Law (‘Black Sea’), Eric Bana (‘The Secret Scripture’), Astrid Bergès-Frisbey (‘I Origins’), Djimon Hounsou (‘The Vatican Tapes’), and Irish actor Aidan Gillen (‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,’ ‘The Dark Knight Rises’) starring.

The bold new story introduces a streetwise young Arthur (Hunnam) who runs the back alleys of Londonium with his gang, unaware of the life he was born for until he grasps hold of the sword Excalibur—and with it, his future. Instantly challenged by the power of Excalibur, Arthur is forced to make some hard choices. Throwing in with the Resistance and a mysterious young woman named Guinevere (Bergès-Frisbey), he must learn to master the sword, face down his demons and unite the people to defeat the tyrant Vortigern (Law), who stole his crown and murdered his parents, and become King.

Gillen, best known for his role of Petyr ‘Littlefinger’ Baelish in ‘Game of Thrones’ will take the role of Goosefat Bill, with Hounsou as Bedivere, leader of the Resistance and Arthur’s mentor. Aussie star Bana is playing Uther Pendragon, father to Arthur and former King of Britain.

The untitled film is scheduled for release July 2016.
