Scott and DiCaprio Take On Drug Epic THE CARTEL

Master filmmaker Ridley Scott has committed to direct a film adaptation of Don Winslow’s latest book, ‘The Cartel,’ with Leonardo DiCaprio in line for one of the lead roles.

Per Deadline, the sprawling crime epic settles the score between DEA agent Art Keller and Mexican drug kingpin Adan Berrera, a battle that began with Winslow’s 2006 novel ‘The Power of the Dog.’

DiCaprio would take on the role of Keller, who in ‘The Power of the Dog,’ befriended Berrera as he was a drug dealer on the way up. In ‘The Cartel’, Berrera escapes from prison and a bloody feud breaks out between the two.

Shane Salerno, Winslow’s partner over at The Story Factory, will provide the script.
