Cate Blanchett to Play Lucille Ball in Aaron Sorkin-Scripted Biopic

Cate Blanchett (‘Knight of Cups,’ ‘Truth,’ ‘The Hobbit’) will star in an authorized biopic of Hollywood legend Lucille Ball, according to TheWrap.

Featuring a script by Aaron Sorkin (‘The Social Network,’ ‘Steve Jobs’), the untitled film centres on Ball’s 20-year marriage to Desi Arnaz, with whom she starred on the classic TV sitcom ‘I Love Lucy.’ Ball had two children with Arnaz before they divorced in 1960.

Ball’s children, Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr., will produce the film along with Sony-based banner, Escape Artists. No director is attached yet.

Blanchett will next be seen starring alongside Rooney Mara in Todd Hayes’ 1950s-set romantic drama ‘Carol’ which hits Irish cinemas November 27th.
