Scribe hired for martial arts remake.

Deadline reports that Screen Gems has enlisted screenwriter Brad Ingelsby to pen the script for the remake of the Gareth Evans’ Indonesian martial arts thriller ‘The Raid.’

Starring Indonesian martial arts star Iko Uwais, ‘The Raid’ follows an elite swat team tasked with raiding a rundown apartment block in Jakarta that is filled with the world’s most dangerous killers and gangsters. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord that runs the block, the building’s lights are cut and all the exits blocked. Stranded on the 6th floor with no way out, the unit must fight their way through the city’s worst to survive their mission.

‘The Raid’ will be screening as part of this year’s Jameson Dublin International Film Festival. Attending the screening will be the director, Gareth Evans (‘Merantau’). You can book tickets over at the official JDIFF site.

Was supposed to be seeing the raid as part of the JDIFF but cant make it now. It looks all kinds of awesome sauce but a remake would just loose the grit that the original has as usual boo to remakes

Don't really see why we need a remake so soon, but they really should get someone with great martail arts skills, if they don't go for an asian lead then they should be looking at Scott Adkins, that guy has skill.

I saw the film at JDIFF, it was incredible. Really brilliant action film, this won't be at all as good unless it's a shot for shot remake.
