Oswalt and Scott up for roles in Stiller’s next.

Showblitz reports that Patton Oswalt is in talks for a role in Ben Stiller’s next directorial effort, a remake of the 1947 Danny Kaye film ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.’

The long-gestating project has Stiller playing the title character, a timid daydreamer who works at LIFE Magazine, where he develops photos of other people’s adventures rather than living his own. He finds himself having to play the hero when he’s tasked with finding a missing negative.

Kirsten Wiig is attached to co-star as the co-worker Mitty lusts after, while Shirley MacLaine will play his mother. Oswalt, who is coming off stellar reviews for his role in ‘Young Adult,’ would be taking the role of Todd, a friendly eHarmony counsellor who helps Mitty create an online dating profile.

Deadline adds that ‘Parks and Recreation’ and ‘Friends With Kids’ star Adam Scott is also up for a role and is final negotiations to board the comedy.

Great cast, think Wiig deserves more roles like this.
