THR reports that Moira Buffini (‘Byzantium,’ ‘Jane Eyre,’ ‘Tamara Drewe’) has been hired to pen the screenplay for the big screen adaptation of Erin Morgenstern’s fantasy novel ‘The Night Circus.’
Set at the beginning of the 19th century, the book tells the story of two young magicians, pawns in an age-old rivalry between their mercurial, illusionist fathers, and the enchanted circus where their competition and romances play out. The fates of everyone involved, from creators and performers to patrons, hang in the duo’s balance.
David Heyman and Jeff Clifford will produce via their Heyday Films banner, with Richard Pine serving as executive producer. Lionsgate’s Erik Feig and Jeyun Choi of Summit Entertainment will oversee the project.
