Mia Wasikowska Joins Jesse Eisenberg for Richard Ayoades THE DOUBLE

movie news | 02 Feb 2012 | 1 comments

'Alice in Wonderland’ actress joins Ayoade’s psychological thriller.

We have known for a while now that Richard Ayoade’s ‘Submarine’ follow-up would be an indie adaptation of the Fyodor Dostoevsky’s ‘The Double: A Petersburg Poem,’ with Jesse Eisenberg attached to star. Now Variety has word that Mia Wasikowska (‘Albert Nobs,’ ‘The Kids Are All Right’) has joined the cast for an unknown role.

Dostoevsky’s 1846 novella follows a Russian government clerk named Goliadkin who becomes aware of a mysterious doppelganger, a man who has his name and his face and who gradually and relentlessly begins to displace him with his friends and colleagues.

The film, penned by Ayoade and Avi Korine (‘Mister Lonely’), was co-developed and will be co-financed by Film4.

Really like the sound of this. Really glad to see Ayoade will be stepping behind the camera again, Submarine was one of the best films I saw last year.
