Marcus Nispel to Direct Action Horror HACK/SLASH

‘Conan’ director to helm comic book adaptation.

Marcus Nispel (‘Conan the Barbarian’) has been tapped to direct the feature film adaptation of action-horror comic ‘Hack/Slash,’ reports Heat Vision.

Based on the Image Comics title created by Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli, ‘Hack/Slash’ chronicles the adventures of Cassie Hack, a woman who symbolizes the cliché of the lone girl who survives at the end of every horror movie. In this case, the girl not only survived but has become a killer of killers. Along with her hulking protector, Vlad, Hack travels across the country hunting slashers in the vein of Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger.

In the past, numerous actresses, including Megan Fox (‘Jennifer’s Body’), Kat Dennings (‘Thor’) and Allison Scagliotti (‘Warehouse 13’) had been rumoured for the coveted role of Hack.

Nispel replaces Fredrik Bond, who was previously attached to direct. Along with last year’s ‘Conan the Barbarian’ reboot, Nispel’s credits include ‘Pathfinder,’ and the remakes of ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ and ‘Friday the 13th.’

the original comics came out the same year as the first Dexter novel, 2004, so neither of them are ripping off the other.

I always thought Dexter was closer to Daredevil than anything else.

Interesting story, but apparently it is unoriginal and Nispel is a bad director. Never watched Dexter but if this is copying that then might just start watching that show.
