They couldn’t have found a better director.

Brian Taylor, one half of the crazy directing duo that is Neveldine/Taylor (‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,’ ‘Gamer,’ ‘Crank’), has been tapped to write and direct a live-action adaptation of the hit videogame ‘Twisted Metal.’

According to Deadline, the film will stick close to the premise of the game, with the story revolving around an underground demolition derby that allows the usage of ballistic projectiles, machine guns, mines, and other types of weapons. The soul survivor of the race get his or her wish granted by the proprietor of the race, Calypso, “a string-puller dedicating to examining the human condition, such as what makes a peaceful man violent, what terrifies a violent man and who will make a Faustian bargain in which they risk their lives.”

Fan favourites expected to make an appearance, include Sweet Tooth, a homicidal clown who drives an ice cream truck, and Doll Face, a young woman who is trapped behind a porcelain mask and who drives an 18-wheeler.

Avi and Ari Arad (‘The Amazing Spider-Man,’ ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’) are on board to produce, what will be Taylor's solo directing debut.

Neveldine/Taylor’s ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’ arrives in Irish cinemas February 17th.
