Michigan resident Sarah Deming has filed a lawsuit against film distributor FilmDistrict claiming that the trailers for the Ryan Gosling action-thriller ‘Drive’ were misleading.
In her suit, Deming says, "[The studio] promoted the film 'Drive' as very similar to the 'Fast and Furious,' or similar, series of movies. ‘Drive' bore very little similarity to a chase, or race action film... having very little driving in the motion picture."
The plaintiff goes on to add that the Nicolas Winding Refn film "substantially contained extreme, gratuitous, dehumanising racism directed at members of the Jewish faith, and thereby promoted criminal violence against members of the Jewish faith."
Deming is seeking the cost of her ticket and is planning to turn the case into a class-action suit in hopes to put a ban on "misleading movie trailers."
