‘Submarine’ filmmaker joins Stiller and Vaughn

Richard Ayoade (‘The IT Crowd’) has signed on for the Akiva Schaffer-directed comedy ‘Neighborhood Watch,’ joining Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and Rosemarie Dewitt. ‘Red State’ star Nicholas Braun has also been added to the cast.

The comedy centers on a group of guys who use their neighourhood watch as a front to escape their families; however things take a turn for the worse when they discover an alien-invasion plot. The screenplay comes from Seth Rogen and writing partner Evan Goldberg.

Variety reports that ‘Submarine’ writer-director Ayoade will be playing a role previously linked to ‘Rush Hour’ star Chris Tucker.

Any chance that Chris O Dowd could get Vince Vaughn's part? VV is the only cast member that makes me wary of this film.

Chris Tucker would've ruined this for me, glad to see he's been replaced. And even happier to see Ayoade join. Im a lot more interested in this now.
