Sequel to Alexandra Aja's Piranha 3D in the works...

A sequel to Piranha 3D has been confirmed.

The Alexandra Aja film hit the US box office this week, taking in just over $10 million in ticket sales. Now Dimension has given the go-ahead to Piranha 3D: The Sequel.

The film's producer Mark Canton said: "We are thrilled that audiences are not just loving Piranha 3D, but cheering for it. And it's fantastic that so many critics are really getting the movie and recommending it. We can't wait to get to work on the sequel."

The sequel movie in cinemas by 2012.

I've heard it is excruciatingly bad, not even naked Kelly Brook helped, and I don't think people were expecting all that much to begin with. When my friend said it was crappy retro-fitted 3D I was convinced to give this one a miss.

I really want to see the first one, it just looks like heaps of mindless fun, so this doesn't sound like bad news to me and the box office take seems to warrant a sequel as well.
