While helmer Michael Sucsy’s next will be ‘Rosline,’ a comedy retelling of the Shakespeare classic ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ the director has added another project to his future slate. According to Variety, he has entered talks to direct an untitled musical inspired by the music of The Beach Boys.
The musical is based a fictional story and characters created by ‘Erin Brockovich’ scribe Susannah Grant, and will feature the band’s music as the driving force. Think along the lines of Julie Taymor’s Beatles-inspired ‘Across the Universe’ and the ABBA-driven ‘Mamma Mia!’
‘Hairspray’ and ‘Chicago’ producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron are producing, along with actor John Stamos, who played with and remains close to the legendary band.
Sucsy's feature helming debut ‘The Vow,’ a romantic drama starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, is in cinemas now.
