Release date and brief synopsis for the Captain’s next solo outing.

Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures have announced a release date for a sequel to last summer’s blockbuster ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’: April 4th 2014.

“The second installment will pick-up where the highly anticipated ‘Marvel’s Avengers Assemble leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world.”

A director has yet to be confirmed, but George Nolfi (‘The Adjustment Bureau’), F. Gary Gray (‘The Italian Job’) and Anthony and Joseph Russo (‘You, Me and Dupree’) are all rumoured to be under consideration for the director’s chair.

Along with the short press release, Marvel released a new image of Chris Evans as the patriotic fighter in the upcoming superhero epic ‘Marvel’s Avengers Assemble,’ which will be released in Irish cinemas in 3D on April 26th, 2012.

I really liked the first so this is good news, though I'm not sure about the list of potential directors. The guys who did You, Me And Dupree?

It was a good move getting the director of the Rocketeer for the first Captain America film, there's a nice parallel there. George Nolfi is the only one of the three names that even slightly inspires confidence.

I'm trying to think of a film with a man out of his own time and "Kate & Leopold" comes to mind. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035423/ James Mangold isn't a bad director either but it looks like he's already busy working on The Wolverine http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1430132/.

First movie was great, his suit in particular was incredibly well made! Agree with the guys about the director choices. Matthew Vaughn would be a nice choice me thinks.
