McAvoy locked for ‘Shifty’ director’s dark thriller.

James McAvoy (‘X-Men: First Class,’ ‘Atonement’) has signed on to Eran Creevy’s London-set action thriller ‘Welcome to the Punch,’ a movie the writer/director has described as "an epic crime thriller in the mould of Heat or Internal Affairs."

‘Welcome to the Punch’ follows a London detective (McAvoy) whose old nemesis, an armed robber called Red Diesel, reappears after five years absence. His return is heralds the uncovering of a massive conspiracy.

Creevy made his directorial debut with ‘Shifty’ in 2008, and was nominated for a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Producer, or Director.

    Red Diesel is a bit of a ridiculous name alright, but still film sounds promising.
