Monty Python’s SPAMALOT Headed To The Big Screen

The reliable folks over at Deadline bring word that Hollywood has plans for a film adaptation of the Monty Python’s Tony-winning musical ‘Spamalot.’

Lovingly ripped off from the hugely successful 1975 film ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail,’ the story follows King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on a divine mission to locate the elusive Holy Grail – with uproarious consequences.

Monty Python alum Eric Idle, who also co-wrote the Broadway production, is on board to script for the film, with Tony winner Casey Nicholaw (‘Mean Girls,’ ‘The Book of Mormon,’ ‘’) set to direct. Nicholaw was the choreographer on the original production of ‘Spamalot,’ which was directed by the late Mike Nichols.

Production is expected to kick off next spring with Idle also producing alongside Jeremy Kramer.
