Mike Leigh to attend Irish premiere of ANOTHER YEAR as part of JDIFF

Jameson International Film Festival to bring cult director to Dublin

Acclaimed film director Mike Leigh will visit Dublin for a public interview hosted by Irish filmmaker (and ex-Movies.ie blogger) Lenny Abrahamson, who brought us Irish classics such as ‘Garage’ & ‘Adam & Paul’).

Mike will attend the Irish premiere of his new movie ‘Another Year’ with cast member Lesley Manville. The event hosted by The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival will take place on October 27th in Cineworld cinemas.

Commenting on the event, JDIFF director Grainne Humphreys said “It seems such a short time since Mike Leigh and lead actress Sally Hawkins received a rapturous response after the 2008 festival screening of ‘Happy Go Lucky’. Universally acknowledged as one of the world’s greatest filmmakers, Mike Leigh’s skill with actors is without equal in contemporary cinema. His new film ‘Another Year’ is both a wonderful, bittersweet portrait of friendship, and a celebration of many of the actors who have collaborated with him in his lengthy career. It is a true honour to host the Irish premiere of Mike Leigh’s new film ‘Another Year’ and to welcome Mike and lead actress and regular collaborator Lesley Manville to Dublin.”

Mike Leigh will also present an Industry masterclass with Screen Training Ireland giving industry peers an insight to his film making.

Tickets for the premiere are available through the JDIFF website, priced €10.
