Two more board Adam Sandler-led action comedy…
‘True Detective’ star Michelle Monaghan and Ashley Benson (‘Pretty Little Liars,’ ‘Spring Breakers’) have become the latest additions to the cast of Chris Columbus’ big-budget action feature ‘Pixels.’
Starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James (‘Here Comes The Boom’), Jane Krakowski (’30 Rock’), Josh Gad (‘Frozen’), Peter Dinklage (‘Game of Thrones’), and Scottish actor Brian Cox (‘The Anomaly’), the ‘Ghostbusters’-like action comedy follows four champion arcade gamers who are called back into action to save the world when aliens attack by staging versions of popular 1980s video games on an epic scale.
THR has Monaghan playing “a weapons developer for the military and love interest for Sandler,” while Benson will play Lady Lisa, “a beautiful warrior from the fictional ’80s video game Dojo Quest.”
Tim Herlihy and Tim Dowling penned the script based on French filmmaker Patrick Jean’s 2010 short.
