Michael Mann to Direct Enzo Ferrari Biopic

“Automotive mogul getting biopic treatment…

According to Variety, Michael Mann (‘Blackhat,’ ‘Public Enemies,’ ‘Heat’) is aiming to shoot his long-gesting Enzo Ferrari biopic next year.

Based on the 1991 book “Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races” by Brock Yates, the film tells of the Italian motor racing driver and entrepreneur who redefined the high-powered Italian sports car and almost single-handedly created Formula One racing.

Niels Juul (‘Silence’) is on board to produce with Mann working from a script merged from two scripts – one by Troy Kennedy Martin (‘Edge of Darkness,’ ‘The Italian Job’), and another by the late David Rayfield (‘The Firm,’ ‘Out of Africa’).

The project is not to be confused with the recently announced Robert De Niro-starring Ferrari biopic that has Gianni Bozzacchi, owner of Triworld Cinema, producing.
