Blood will have blood…

According Screen Daily, ‘Shame’ and ‘X-Men: First Class’ star Michael Fassbender is attached to play Macbeth in a new version of Shakespeare’s classic, with Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel (‘The Snowtown Murders’) directing.

Featuring a script by actor-director Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff, the new take on Shakespeare’s classic – about a ruthlessly ambitious Scottish general who seizes the throne with the help of his scheming wife and three witches – is set in the 11th century and in the original language.

The script is said to be take a “visceral approach to the story” and will include “significant battle scenes.”

Australia’s See Saw Films and Film4 are backing the film with Iain Canning and Emile Sherman (‘The King’s Speech,’ ‘Shame,’ ‘Hunger’) producing.
