Michael Angarano (‘Red State,’ ‘Ceremony’) and Lily Collins (‘Abduction’) have joined the cast of the indie comedy ‘The English Teacher.’ They join Julianne Moore, Greg Kinnear and Nathan Lane.
Production on the comedy kicks off this week, with Moore playing a beloved high school English teacher whose repressed personal life is in contrast to the passion she brings to the classroom. After her former star pupil returns to their small town after failing as a playwright in New York, she convinces him to mount his unproduced play at the school, which creates more drama than she’s ever known.
Angarano will play the sensitive scribe, who the protagonist finds herself falling for. Collins will play a popular high student who comes into conflict with the teacher.
‘The English Teacher’ is the feature directorial debut of Craig Zisk (‘The Big C,’ ‘Nurse Jackie,’ ‘Weeds’).
