Oscar-winning actresses team with Jones for his next.

Back in May it was announced that Tommy Lee Jones had chosen the pioneer period piece ‘The Homesman’ as his next directorial effort, now word has emerged of what A-list stars he has lined up for the cast.

TheWrap is reporting that Jones has cast Meryl Streep and Hilary Swank for the feature which will see the ‘Men in Black’ star playing a claim-jumping rascal of a man (Jones) who, along with a frontier woman, ushers three insane women on an odyssey across the American prairie, braving the harsh elements along the way.

According to the site, Swank will be taking the role of the frontier woman, but it was not clear which role Streep would play. ‘The Homesman’ will mark a reunion of Streep and Jones, who recently worked together on David Frankel’s romantic comedy ‘Great Hope Springs.’

‘The Homesman’ will be produced by Michael Fitzgerald via Ithaca Films label along with Jones through his banner, The Javelina Film Company. Luc Besson’s Paris-based banner EuropaCorp. is producing and financing.
