Mendelsohn in Talks for MISSISSIPPI GRIND

Aussie star eyes gambling indie.

Variety is reporting that Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn (‘Killing Them Softly,’ ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ ‘Animal Kingdom’) has entered into talks for the indie drama ‘Mississippi Grind.’

With Jake Gyllenhaal on board to star, and produce, the film follows “a gambler in debt who sets off on a road trip through the Southern U.S. with a young gambling addict in an attempt to change his luck.”

The film will be will written and directed by ‘Half Nelson’ and ‘Sugar’ filmmaking duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Lynette Howell, John Lesher and Jamie Patricof will produce alongside Gyllenhaal.

Mendelsohn will be next seen in Derek Cianfrance’s ‘The Place Beyond The Pines.’
