Melissa McCarthy & Ben Falcone to Co-Direct TAMMY

Husband and wife team to direct the long-gestating comedy.

Melissa McCarthy (‘Identity Thief,’ ‘Bridesmaids’) and her husband/writing partner Ben Falcone are to make their directorial debut with the raunchy road-trip comedy ‘Tammy.’

Scripted by the couple, the film sees McCarthy playing the titular character, a woman who after losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother.

Mark Duplass (‘Safety Not Guaranteed,’ ‘The League’) is set to co-star, while THR adds that Susan Sarandon is eyeing the role of the grandmother with Kathy Bates in line to play her lesbian friend who saves the duo from some bad spots.
