Pair will topline fantasy feature…
Variety has confirmed that Salma Hayek and Vincent Cassel have closed deals to take the leads in ‘The Tale of Tales,’ the next directorial effort of Italian helmer Matteo Garrone (‘Gomorrah,’ ‘First Love,’ ‘The Embalmer’).
A follow up to Matteo’s award winning 2012 feature ‘Reality,’ the English language film is based on three tales from Giambattista Basile’s ‘Lo cunto de li cunti,’ and aims to “revisit various traditional Italian tales with a modern twist.”
Filming is set to kick off in the spring in Italy with Garrone’s outfit, Archimede Film, producing. Jean Labadie’s Paris-based arthouse banner, Le Pacte, will co-produce.
