Martin Campbell Takes THE DIVE

Campbell to direct James Cameron-produced project.

‘Casino Royale’ and ‘Green Lantern’ director Martin Campbell has been tapped by 20th Century Fox to direct the J. Michael Straczynski-penned diving story ‘The Dive,’ reports Deadline.

Based on freediver Francisco “Pipin” Ferraras and his wife Audrey Mestre, the film tells the story of “two pre-eminent free-divers who, with but a breath of air in their lungs, plunged to unimaginable depths before swimming back to the surface.”

James Cameron was originally attached to direct, but he is too busy prepping ‘Avatar’ sequels. The filmmaker remains on board as producer, along with his Lightstorm team of Jon Landau and Rae Sanchini.
