Mark Wahlberg in Talks for AVON MAN

Avon Calling…

Deadline reports that Mark Wahlberg is in talks to produce and star in the 20th Century Fox comedy ‘Avon Man.’

The project was originally set up with Hugh Jackman attached to star under the direction of Kevin Lima (‘Enchanted’), but fell apart when Jackman left to shoot ‘The Wolverine,’ which itself fell into development hell.

In the film, a group of guys are laid off from an auto dealership, and one (Wahlberg) reluctantly becomes an Avon salesman. Using his charisma and looks, he becomes one of the company’s most successful workers. He then tries to save his town and help his struggling family by pulling in his unemployed friends to hawk beauty products so they can win a regional contest.

Michael McCullers (‘Baby Mama,’ ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me’) has been tapped to write a new draft of the script originated by Kevin Bisch (‘Hitch’).
