Mark Duplass is planning to stay in the sci-fi genre following his role in the Sundance hit ‘Safety Not Guaranteed,’ and has signed up to lead ‘Convention,’ an indie sci-fi comedy that will mark the feature directorial debut of commercials director Justin Reardon.
Penned by Christopher Painter, the film is set at a box convention and sees Duplass playing an inventor who unveils his latest creation: the five-sided box. “The mysterious new design initially seems perfect, until the inventor learns that each time he creates its special fold, he rips a hole in the space-time continuum. It’s up to him and his sister to put things back together and save the world.”
Joining Duplass on the project will be Ben Kingsley, playing a legend in the business who buys the five-sided box and nearly brings down the world.
According to Variety Jennifer Aniston is circling the role of the sister, but has yet to commit.
