MAMA Director In Talks for MUMMY Reboot

Reboot lines up new director.

THR is reporting that Andrés Muschietti is negotiations to direct Universal’s reboot of ‘The Mummy’ franchise.

Muschietti, who made his directorial debut with the horror thriller ‘Mama,’ would be replacing Len Wiseman (‘Total Recall,’ ‘A Good Day to Die,’ ‘Underworld’) who exited the reboot back in July due to scheduling conflicts.

Scripted by Jon Spaihts (‘Prometheus’), the reboot aims to “reinvent” the hugely successful franchise, and is said to draw inspiration from the books of Michael Crichton, who infused his tales in modern-day science.

Sean Daniels, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are on board to produce.
