Six more also join the large supporting cast.

With production scheduled to kick off next month, writer/director Randell Miller is moving fast to fill out the cast of his underground music biopic ‘CBGB.’

Alan Rickman is leading the cast, portraying Hilly Kristal, the legendary owner of New York’s iconic music venue ‘CBGB,’ and as reported on Friday, Rupert Grint (‘Harry Potter’) is playing Cheetah Chrome, the guitarist for The Dead Boys.

Now it has been announced that Malin Akerman (‘Rock of Ages’) has closed a deal to board the project, and will be portraying Blondie frontwoman and punk icon Deborah Harry, who regularly frequented CBGB.

‘Castle’ star Stana Katic and Joel David Moore (‘Avatar’) are also on board. According to THR, Katic is set to portray Genya Ravan, a producer who was the lead singer of pioneering 1960s rock band Goldie & the Gingerbreads, while Moore is to play Joey Ramone, lead vocalist of The Ramones.

The large supporting cast will also feature Julian Acosta (‘Thin Red Line’) as Johnny Ramone; Richard De Klerk (‘Repeaters’) as CBGB soundman Taxi; Josh Zuckerman (‘Sex Drive’) playing Punk magazine creator John Holmstrom; Ryan Hurst (‘Sons of Anarchy’) is Mad Mountain; and Estelle Harris (‘Toy Story 3’) is Hilly’s mother, Bertha Kristal.
