Legendary is planning to reboot Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz’s cult classic franchise ‘The Toxic Avenger,’ and has brought in actor-turned-filmmaker Macon Blair (‘I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore,’ ‘Green Room’) to write and direct.
Released by Troma Entertainment back in1984, ‘The Toxic Avenger’ told of Melvin Ferd (Mark Torgl), a meek mop boy who becomes a deformed radioactive hulking mess after falling into a vat of toxic waste. Using his new superhuman size and strength, he stands up to bullies and corruption.
Variety has Kaufman and Herz on board to serve as producers, with Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter overseeing development for Legendary.
