Lupita Nyong’o To Play Trevor Noah’s Mother in BORN A CRIME

Lupita Nyong’o, currently kicking ass on the big screen in Marvel’s ‘Black Panther,’ is set to produce and star in ‘Born A Crime,’ a feature adaptation of comedian and ‘The Daily Show’ host Trevor Noah’s bestselling autobiography.

The book, published in 2016, is an account of Noah’s growing up in South Africa as the son of a white father and black mother, during the last gasps of apartheid and the tumultuous days of freedom that came with its demise.

Per Deadline, Nyong’o will play Noah’s mother, Patricia, who served as an important figure to her son in his formative years. Patricia was shot in the head by his stepfather but survived.

Noah will produce the film through his Ark Angel Productions alongside Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt, Sanaz Yamin and Nyong’o.
